Antonia Lofaso
Antonia's food is a way to explore her life. Her food elicits a curiosity that developed from stepping beyond the outskirts of Long Island and into the multicultural landscape that is Los Angeles. She believes that cavatelli and carnitas could coexist seamlessly on the same menu conveys a sensibility which continues to evolve. Inspired by her heritage as an Italian-American, Lofaso opened Scopa Italian Roots in 2013 and was instantly well-received. Lofaso's interpretation of traditional Italian is hailed as one of the most compelling restaurants for Italian food located in Los Angeles. Lofaso has been praised by many as a local favourite that serves up meals that are delicious, authentic and welcoming. Lofaso studied from chefs who employed sophisticated methods. She was not afraid to take huge risks in order to respect her instincts. After a brief period she rose to the highest level of Wolfgang Puck's Spago. Later she worked with a variety of famous people as she transformed various Los Angeles restaurants. In 2011 Lofaso worked with Sal Aurora and Mario Guddemi to debut Black Market Liquor Bar in Studio City. Lofaso has found her home at Black Market, and through her partnerships she has created. Lofaso achieved the creative spirit she desired thanks to her partnership. Black Market is not constrained by a single direction, and that's the goal. The course will begin with dill-flavored potato chips, Shishito peppers, and follow up with Korean Wings. Antonia anchors the bold range of flavours. In her long career Lofaso has judged her accomplishment by her innate ability to connect with her viewers and remain in line with her personal style. She has been a part of numerous television shows like Top Chef Chicago, Top Chef: All Stars and Cutthroat Kitchen Man vs. Child on The Food Network and ABC's Real O'neals. Her talents have continued to be showcased in her role as a judge on CNBC's Restaurant Startup. Lofaso has teamed up with Penguin in 2012 to release The Busy Mum's Cookbook, 100 Recipes to prepare Delicious homemade Meals. This book also tells her story about the obstacles she faced while going to her first French Culinary Institute and raising her daughter Xea.
