Lizzo joined a prog-rock band where she sang and played the flute. Her family moved to Denver and Lizzo was with her own needs to begin her professional career in Houston. Lizzo was a car owner and would sometimes sleep on the floor of her recording studio. Lizzo also used her gym to shower at the gymnasium. Lizzo's father died at the age of twenty-one. It was a terrible loss for both of them, since they were very close. She left the prog-rock band in 2010, after her father's passing. After a short stop in Denver in 2010, Lizzo moved to Minneapolis at the invitation of her friend in 2011. Lizzo was soon immersed in that city's music scene. She was part of the girl groups Chalice, GRRRL PRTY. Her debut album, Lizzobangers was released in 2013 by an independent label.
